A Secret Place

Just what is a Tepui (pronounced Tipoo-i)? Or more to the point what is Cafe Tepui? Tepui is the name for a flat topped mountain in the Amazon region of Venezuela in South America (of which there are many).
Cafe Tepui is a stylish yet homely cafe/gallery(shop) recently opened in Persiaran Ampang, and is the brainchild of Alexandra Villarreal, who opened her doors only a few weeks ago. Alexandra has lived in KL since moving here from Caracas in 2005 with her husband. “I have always had a strong desire to open my own place with this concept in mind” she says with great enthusiasm, ................”and to see my idea come to fruition is fantastic.”

“ I have tried to create a nice lounge/cafe with a subtle touch from my country, which is Venezuela. Tepui is a small but homely cafe cum accessory shop offering something different. For example, in the shop I have a wide range of items like accessories from the Amazon region (and all hand made by the Amazon Indians), to select “pieces” from the world. One of the most popular items with my customers are my hammocks - again imported from South America.

Tepui is a cafeteria, warm and friendly where people can relax, read a magazine, have a nice cup of coffee (try the Venezuelan “carajillo” - pronounced cara-heeyo) and brouse around the shop.” As Alexandra says...”it’s still a ‘secret place’ where you can relax with friends, have a light snack and just chill out.”
